Patricia Cheeks, Life Transitions Coach and Mentor

Any transition serious enough to alter your definition of yourself requires not just small adjustments in your way of living, but also a full metamorphosis - and a coach. I specialize in working with those navigating life’s toughest transitions. Be it a new job, a new baby, a recent diagnosis, or even the impending death of yourself or a loved one, I’m here to see you, to hear you, and to seek to understand and help you.

What is Healing Touch?

Healing Touch is a holistic approach to healing that acknowledges the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. At its core, this approach recognizes that energy flows throughout our bodies 24/7 in a process called “life.”

When the body’s energy is balanced, so are the body’s health centers. By working in the energy field of the body, on the meridians and the chakra system, trained practitioners can heal or help to heal many blockages and energy flows in the body.

More than a listener…

At Natural Transitions, I work with individuals in their teens to 100+ years of age. I am not JUST a listener; I have more than 30 years of experience in the medical and psychological fields, and I am certified in Healing Touch, also referred to as Energy Medicine.

I use my skills in in-patient, out-patient, and private practice settings to address a number of different areas, but not limited to:

recent or past

• Trauma:

Long-haul Covid, kidney, heart, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, Lyme, non-specific or undiagnosed issues.

• Health:

Whether or not you are spiritual, non-denominational, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Sikh, believing or non-believing or any faith, you are welcome here.

• Spiritual:

In his book The Body Keeps the Score, by Bessel van der Kolk we see how our bodies hold past trauma for decades. We often need only to release those traumas to release the pain and health issues we have. With your help, we can find and release those traumas.

• Energy:

A "transition" is simply a move from one state of being or life to another. Birth is a transition and so is death. So is school, graduating, marrying or divorcing. Any life change is a transition. Most of us can handle the small or average transitions with the help of friends, family or significant others, but the larger issues may demand outside professionals who can guide you, teach the tools you'll need to transition, or simply to be there with you in ways your family and friends cannot be.

• Transitions:

How do you know you need a transitions coach?

Well, do you feel overwhelmed by the changes happening in yourself or others close to you? Do you freeze or procrastinate when you have to make even simple decisions? Are you crying, frustrated, or angry at even little things? Do you feel unheard or like no-one really gets you?

Maybe a session or two with a therapist, coach or professional can help you resolve the things that are holding you back?

Do you want to learn new skills and strategies to improve your overall well-being? Are you learning that you never really understood boundaries, how they worked, or how to create, communicate, and enforce them?

If you are willing to be open and honest and learn more about yourself, my approach could benefit you.

Don't we all want to be heard and understood?

I think we do.

That's why I take exactly that approach with my clients- listen and understand first, then encourage exploration for options and a course of work that will help you manage and transition well to a happier place.

Experience:

As a former board-certified Psychiatric/Clinical Nurse Specialist, I have practical knowledge in a variety of hospital, trauma, and care settings. I’ve used my skills in in-patient, out-patient, and private practice settings.

While volunteering with the Sexual Assault Resource Agency and Shelter for Help in Emergency, I helped rape and other assault victims transition from trauma back into normal life.

I have also volunteered in classrooms and worked on committees for preschool, elementary, middle, high schools, and college—helping with challenges faced by parents, teachers, school boards, and sports staffs.

As the mother of two now grown children, I’ve been through pregnancy on both sides – as one who experienced the joys and challenges of pregnancy, and as a nurse assisting through the pregnancy and birthing processes. I’ve taught prenatal and postpartum exercise and childbirth classes, and acted as doula.
