"There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. If you block it, it will never exist through any other medium. It will be lost. The world will not have it.
"It is not your business to determine how good it is, nor how valuable it is, nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open."
- Martha Graham, quoted by Agnes de Mille, *Dance to the Piper and Promenade Home* ...
STAR Director, Katie Mansfield, recently spoke with journalist, Christine A. Scheller, about trauma and moral injury. "Mansfield points out that 'there are very real reasons in terms of our neurobiology and our physiology as well as our beliefs that we cannot just get over it.'" www.bigquestionsonline.com/2017/10/12/what-moral-injury/
Here's a column I published at On Being almost two years ago. It's all about "getting unstuck." Today, I'm no longer stuck on the same things I was back then—I'm stuck on new things!
So I'm re-publishing this as a reminder to myself, and anyone else who feels stuck, that there are ways to move forward in our lives and our work—if we are willing to let go and "begin again."
The link below will take you to the On Being site. If you want to "Like" and/or comment on this piece, please return here to do so. Thanks!
